How to pre-order GTA 6: dates, bonuses, and pre-load

Short answer: Confirmed GTA VI pre-orders opened June 25, 2026, for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Digital pre-orders can pre-load from November 12; all pre-orders and purchases before November 20 qualify for the Vintage Vice City Pack.

Choose a platform and edition

Confirmed The announced platforms are PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar offers Standard and Ultimate editions. The PlayStation Store lists Standard at $79.99 or £69.99 and Ultimate at $99.99 or £89.99 for the US and UK respectively. The base game is in both; Ultimate adds the Ultimate Edition Upgrade. Check the edition name and region in the store tied to your console account. The dossier verifies PlayStation prices but does not establish Xbox prices. A separate merchandise item called the Vice City Collection does not include the game. Avoid treating that box as a game edition.

When pre-orders opened

Confirmed Rockstar announced on June 18 that global pre-orders would open at midnight local time on June 25, 2026. Its June 24 follow-up detailed the bonuses and pre-load arrangement. Since that opening date has passed, you can use the official platform store or Rockstar’s GTA VI page as your starting point. Check the final checkout screen for your edition, price and region.

The current game launch date is November 19, 2026. Pre-ordering does not move that date forward. The release-date guide shows how the announced date changed since the 2023 reveal.

The Vintage Vice City Pack window

Confirmed Rockstar says the Vintage Vice City Pack applies to all pre-orders and purchases before November 20. That means the announced eligibility is wider than pre-orders alone. The pack contains a ’55 Vapid Stanier sedan, Shore Court garage in Ocean Beach, outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, and a tropical weapon-pattern skin. The official description calls out vintage pastel styling and a weapon pattern inspired by Tommy Vercetti’s palm-tree button-up.

Rockstar has not given a detailed mechanical explanation for the pack in the material checked here. It is safer to consider it a collection of named extras than to assign it any gameplay advantage. If the bonus matters to you, check the listing at purchase and retain the transaction record.

Digital pre-load and physical copies

Confirmed Digital customers who pre-order can begin pre-loading on November 12, 2026. Rockstar’s support article on GTA VI platforms, editions, and versions confirms pre-load “will begin at local midnight on November 12, 2026” for a redeemed code. Rockstar also says the physical version will be available starting November 12 and that the box contains a download code, not a disc, supporting pre-loading. The announced game release remains November 19.

Xbox and PlayStation codes handle regions differently

Confirmed Rockstar’s support article lays out one clear difference worth knowing before you buy a physical copy or gift a code:

Xbox codes are not region-locked.
PlayStation codes are region-locked to grouped regions tied to your account, such as North America, the UK, Japan, and several others named in Rockstar’s table.
Japan is a special case: codes there expire 170 days after issuance, which lands on the November 19 launch date itself.

If you’re buying a physical copy to redeem on an account registered in a different region, or sending a code as a gift, check which platform you’re on before assuming it will work. See Rockstar’s own support article for the full regional grouping.

Confirmed Digital pre-orders include a free month of GTA+. The subscription auto-renews under its terms. Review the subscription settings on your account if you only want the included month. GTA+ is tied to the existing GTA Online ecosystem; this promotion does not announce a GTA VI multiplayer mode. Our online status guide explains the distinction.

What hasn’t been announced

Not announced Rockstar hasn’t announced a launch hour or download size yet (as of September 25, 2026). The November 12 pre-load date does not tell us either one. Check official store information close to launch before making storage or timing plans. The launch checklist covers what you can prepare now.

A simple order check

Analysis Before confirming a purchase, match four things on the official store screen: the platform, the account region, the edition name, and the final price. The PlayStation prices in our coverage are dated US and UK snapshots. Xbox prices were not verified by the dossier, so the Xbox checkout is the source for an Xbox purchase. Save the order confirmation if you want a record of the bonus terms offered to your account.

If you care about the Vintage Vice City Pack, read Rockstar’s “before November 20” wording as the governing date rather than assuming only an advance order qualifies. If you care about early downloading, focus on the November 12 pre-load start and whether your purchase is eligible. A physical copy is described as a download code in a box, which is relevant if you expected a disc. Finally, a free GTA+ month is a subscription benefit with auto-renewal; review its renewal settings separately from the game purchase. None of these terms announces an earlier playable launch.
