GTA 6 age rating: ESRB and PEGI status

Short answer: Not announced GTA VI did not have an ESRB rating entry at our September 25, 2026 check, and the PlayStation Store FAQ said its age ratings were unconfirmed. GTA V’s M and PEGI 18 ratings do not assign a rating to GTA VI.

The current ESRB and PEGI status

We checked the ESRB search for Grand Theft Auto VI on September 25 and found no GTA VI rating entry. The US PlayStation Store FAQ likewise says the game’s age ratings are unconfirmed at the time of its writing. That is the current status we can support; a generic warning on Rockstar’s site is not an assigned rating.

Why GTA V’s rating is only context

Confirmed The PlayStation FAQ notes that Grand Theft Auto V received ESRB M (Mature 17+) and PEGI 18 in Europe. Those are the prior game’s classifications. They give families useful context about the series, but ratings are assigned to individual products. We cannot transfer them to GTA VI or present them as its eventual result.

Our comparison with GTA V covers established setting, protagonists and launch platforms. It does not use the older game’s rating to predict the new one. Similarly, trailer imagery is not a substitute for a published rating and content descriptors.

What parents and gift buyers can check

Analysis Revisit the ESRB entry and your region’s platform listing when the rating is issued.
Analysis Read the final content descriptors and rating explanation rather than relying only on the letter or age number.
Analysis Match the edition and account region before purchase. The US and UK PlayStation prices in our edition guide are dated store snapshots.

Not announced The checked sources do not give GTA VI a final age rating or content descriptors (as of September 25, 2026). We will not guess from GTA V or from marketing footage. The official ESRB entry and platform information should be the references when they become available.
